My previous research in graduate school is related to energy conversion device, i.e. thermophotovoltaic system (TPV system). The TPV system converts heat directly to electricity and is a promising application for waste heat utilization both in industrial scale or household scale. Near-field radiation is focused as it can enhance energy transfer significantly compared to far-field radiation. Finite Different Time Domain method (FDTD) is applied to solve for near-field radiative heat transfer in my study. Electricity generation experiment is carried out to confirm near-field effect and the numerical calculation.
